Great diner environment caters mainly to truckers passing through. Food is great though. Excellent homemade fries, biscuits and gravy was delicious. Hot roast beef sandwich was good and worth eating. Server was excellent.

So so good! He had chicken fried steak and said it was delicious. Hand made...great quality. I had ham and cheese omelette with hash browns and country gravy. Huge portions, cheese packed, and the gravy was creamy yummy. Great place for hangover food for sure. Oh and the staff kept up with coffee and water... Super friendly.

If you're on US 20 in Idaho slow down near Idaho Falls and take Exit 310.The restaurant is part of what is currently KJ's Travel Center and it's definitely worth stopping!!! Mitchell's has apparently been around for years. Our waitress told us about coming there as a kid with her dad as well as the multiple ownership changes in the adjoining truck stop, which never affected the quality of food and service at the restaurant. Anything you might consider lacking in modern decor is immediately forgotten once you take your first bite of food, if not sooner. The place is clean and the seating is comfortable. The staff (of both the restaurant and travel center) and patrons are friendly, helpful, and great for people watching (as noted by another reviewer, Aimee C.). The food is beyond amazing and all homemade! We had bowls of vegetable beef soup with lots of chunky veggies and tender beef. Seasoned perfectly. Yeast rolls nearly bigger than your head came with it. We added an order of fries because 1)we were in Idaho so we figured the ingredients must be fresh and 2) another reviewer (quoting Aimee C. again) said they "might be worth the drive from Salt Lake City." These fries are cut fresh every day and cooked to perfection (except we prefer a touch more salt) and served with fry sauce, which we were told is "an Idaho thing". It tasted great. If veggie soup isn't your thing, don't worry. There are enough options/variety on the menu to satisfy almost any craving, from comfort food to salads or even nachos. Prices are very affordable especially when you see the portions and taste the quality. Servers are friendly and helpful. Don't forget to look around the store before you leave. There's souvenir-type items, sodas, snacks (not that you'll want them after your meal), etc. The flavored popcorn (which is also colored according to flavor) caught our attention. We bought two flavors to bring back and share. The caramel apple (green and caramel colors) wasn't bad, but the huckleberry cheesecake (purple and cream colors) was outrageously good! This has the best breakfast in Idaho Falls. I'd know, I've been to every breakfast place in town and this place is by far the best. Large portions, flavorful options. I always get the ham and cheese omelet and I've never been let down. If you are an out-of-town-er or a local that's looking for an awesome breakfast spot. Come here and thank me when you arrive. Just had breakfast here. Great service and friendly staff! Food portions are plentiful and very tasty. They never let our coffee get half empty which is a rare find. We will definitely eat here again!

If you like over done eggs, under done hash browns that closely resemble left over mashed potatoes served in a questionably clean restaurant with AC/DC blaring from the kitchen then this is the place for you. Disgusting.

I've eaten here a couple of times, and it's always seemed to miss the mark. One of my friends used to work there, and quit recently because he was highly disturbed by the lack of sanitation. The managers and the other cooks "wash" their hands in the fry bucket, the water bucket where the hand-cut fries are kept, and I have personally seen waitresses leaving the bathroom and returning to work without even washing their hands. The kitchen is filthy too, I'm amazed they even pass their health inspections!! Despite the many good reviews about the food, steer clear of this place. Your health is more important than eating a good burger.

This place is amazing. Don't miss it if you're passing through Idaho Falls. It's stuck in a fantastic time warp, and a local told me once that they remodeled in the past 10 or so years and put it back exactly the way it was. You can't go wrong with the food, the servers are exactly as they should be in a place like this (skeptical of outsiders, but warm up), and the people watching will make your day. The fries are all that really matters in the end. They are real fries. Idaho potatoes cut fresh every day. No lie, the fries might be worth the drive from Salt Lake City.

Met my cousin and his family here on their suggestion. The place is a hole in the wall and the decor nothing much to look at but the food was great. I had a 1/2 order of biscuts and graving and it was very good. The biscuts home made as well as the gravey. The prices are very reasonable. We enjoyed the place and would stop again when in Idaho Falls.
